Kapsch CarrierCom says that it has signed a contract for the supply andinstallation of a GSM-R system for ANESRIF, the national agency responsible forrailway infrastructure investments in Algeria. On a 110km route, KapschCarrierCom will install an end-to-end solution including SDH (SynchronousDigital Hierarchy) to support an ERTMS signaling system.To deliver best service to the customer, Kapsch CarrierCom just opened anoffice in Algier. Currently around 10 people are employed in the new office withthe prospect to enlarge the number of employees depending on further customerprojects."During the GSM-R implementation phase, railway operators around theworld rely on our extensive experience and our comprehensive digital wirelesstrain communication expertise. We are especially pleased about this order inNorth Africa, as this region together with the Middle East is the absolutegrowth market for innovative wireless train communication solutions", saidMichel Clement, Kapsch CarrierCom's GSM-R Vice President.The order includes the delivery and installation of a GSM-R end-to-endsolution on the 110km Saida Moulay Slissen route. Additionally, KapschCarrierCom is responsible for the delivery of SDH equipment, a telecommunicationmultiplex technology, which allows the combining of low-rate traffic streamsinto a high-rate traffic stream. The order also includes associated constructionworks, such as telephone masts. The route, which will be equipped by KapschCarrierCom, is part of the "Rocade des hauts Plateaux" route network.The financial value of the contract was not disclosed.
